September 2011
Dear Ladera Ranch Elementary School Parents,
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year! We hope that you had a restful and fun summer with your families and are ready to begin another great year at LRES. One of the things that makes our school special is the involvement of our parent volunteers and PTA Membership. We are fortunate to be able to provide enrichment and community building programs for our children through PTA. We truly encourage both parents of each family to become members of PTA!! GET INVOLVED…
PTA (Parent Teacher Association) began in 1897 as a way to improve the lives of children in our country.
PTA advocates for laws that benefit children on a local, state and federal level. In today’s climate, this is more important than ever. PTA representatives speak to our legislators regarding education, safety and health issues that are important for children and families.
Here, at LRES, through volunteer & fundraising efforts, PTA provides many enrichment programs and assets to our students. These include field trips, Meet the Masters art program, Reflections art showcase, Science Fair, Read-a-thon/Literacy Week, computer lab computers, classroom supplies, student assemblies, yearbooks, Sock Hop & other Family Fun Nights, Jog-a-thon, Book Fair and much more. Without our PTA members and volunteers, none of this would be possible. So again, we encourage you to become members of PTA and support YOUR CHILD’S school.
I also highly encourage you to attend the PTA Association meetings on Sept 22, Nov 17, Jan 26, Mar 15 & May 24 at 8:15am in the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR). I hope you can be there to hear what is going on at LRES, as well as give any input you see fit. We vote on financial and other important matters of our school community. Change is good and we want to hear what YOU have to say! Please invite a friend to join you too. This is how we get more parents involved! Meetings are publicized in the NEW PTA eNewsletter and posted in listserv and on our website – www.lrespta.org – where you can find all of the information on what is happening at LRES PTA events. I hope to meet you at a meeting or school event soon!
With Lion Pride,
Caren Edler
